Description
Williamson County School District has recently launched an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, “The EIC,” which provides an opportunity for students in the tenth through the twelfth grades to gain hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and innovation by starting a business, launching a product, or offering a service. Students attend the EIC part-time each day, gaining high school credit in unique entrepreneurship courses while also developing and testing their prototypes in the facility’s Maker Space and Fabrication Lab. This exciting program would not be possible without the active engagement of many practicing local entrepreneurs who provide daily mentorship, industry advice, and guest instruction, along with a dedicated Board of Directors from the business community, the Catalyst Network, who have guided the EIC development from its inception.
In this session, EIC Director Dr. Kari Miller and Catalyst Network Board Members Cherie Hammond and Jay Sheridan will lead an informational session to describe the unique nature of the EIC, raise a call to action regarding the need for innovation and entrepreneurship programming in our schools, and provide advice for connecting our business communities with local schools and districts in support of innovation education.
Please park in P2 in the oneC1TY parking garage.
