Description
Cyber Joint Task Force-Arma
Operation Gladiator Shield
Under the DoD/USCYBERCOM Operation GLADIATOR SHIELD, a US near-peer cyber threat appeared to target a weapon system critical to the defense of allies within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). With a President of the United States imposed timeline and a task organization unique to the circumstances, USSTRATCOM ordered USCYBERCOM to defend US cyber terrain, combat and eliminate the cyber threat and restore confidence in the critical US weapon system. Thus, USCYBERCOM activated the DoD's first ever cyber joint task force (JTF-ARMA). Commanded by then Lt Col Raesemann, JTF-ARMA deployed maneuver teams to cyber terrain aboard US Navy ships afloat in the Mediterranean and Baltic Seas, US Air Force aircraft in-flight, US Army ground-based satellite terminals and Air Operations Centers in the US and overseas. Simultaneously conducting defensive cyber operations on US and foreign cyber terrain, JTF-ARMA successfully defeated the cyber threat and restored US and NATO confidence in the critical weapon system.
