Python Camps
Intermediate course recommended for grades 7 and up. Students will write their own programs in an Integrated Development Environment. The first day will cover basic concepts such as operators, strings, loops, and concatenations. The next two days tackle functions and object oriented programming. On the fourth day the students will begin to modify code in existing programs and maybe even write some scripts to mod larger programs like MineCraft. The last day is a project build in which the students will push up to GitHub.
Age Range: 7th-12th grade
Experience Level: Beginner to Intermediate. Some coding experience such as an after school coding club, or a scratch camp is recommended. Without prior experience your student will need to be able to keep up with multiple new details, learn a completely new way of thinking, and conquer a broad vocabulary base. Any student who selects this camp will need the ability to sit patiently with problems and persist until they are solved.
Student Tuition*: $200 + MineCraft license. If you do not have a MineCraft license, please notify Amy at aflatt@technologycouncil.com.
Visit http://python.about.com/od/gettingstarted/ss/whatispython.htm for more information.
Students will need to bring a packed lunch each day. All students will need to have an email address to use. All other equipment and supplies will be provided unless specified in the camp description.
