Healthcare Journey to the Public Cloud
This talk will relay the journey to move a healthcare company to the public cloud and the approach taken to enable this for PHI workloads. Topics will include the path HCA took, security focus, network connectivity, management and monitoring, defining and enabling 'PHI Readiness' in the public cloud and lessons learned.

Chris Dehart
Director, Public Cloud and Cloud Governance at HCA
Chris DeHart currently leads HCA's Public Cloud Services team and has worked at HCA for 6 years. Their goal is to enable the safe use public cloud services for HCA. Chris has worked in IT for almost 20 years with much of his focus in web infrastructure and hosting services. He started with State Farm Insurance supporting the web-based systems for agent systems. Chris also worked at Deloitte leading hosting services and led the first implementation of Deloitte's private cloud service.
Director, Public Cloud and Cloud Governance at HCA
Chris believes in HCA's mission statement "Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life." and seeks to support that in his work at HCA. He is passionate about growing relationships at HCA and collaborating to achieve together.
Chris lives in Mt. Juliet, TN with his wife and two boys. His family spends time outside mountain biking, camping, and quiet times inside drawing, reading, and making up silly games.
Paul Currie
Chief Technologist at HCA
Paul Currie is currently serving as Chief Technologist at HCA Healthcare. His technology experience spans over 27 years and for the past 15 years has focused his expertise in healthcare IT. Keeping a pulse on emerging technologies and directing the technical architecture for an IT organization that supports over 170 HCA facilities and close to 800 clinics, Paul has been involved in many strategic initiatives that have changed and shifted the delivery, integration and consumption of data and applications.
His involvement in healthcare data management, cloud strategy, collaboration, mobility and other foundational initiatives has placed him in a unique position to help influence, direct and support both mature and evolving technologies at HCA.
Paul currently resides in Franklin with his wife Ann, and their 3 children.
