Description
Tennessee’s First “Middle Tennessee Cyber Summit” Brings Together Government, Business and Local Cybersecurity Leaders in Family Friendly, Day-Long Event Murfreesboro, TN September 04, 2018.
The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), a nonprofit public-private partnership focused on helping all citizens stay safer and more secure online, is partnering with the Murfreesboro Technology Council, TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security, and local businesses to launch the state’s first Middle Tennessee Cyber Summit – taking place on Saturday, September 22 from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Fountains at Gateway, located at 1500 Medical Center Parkway in Murfreesboro, As part of the state’s kick off to National Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October, the Middle Tennessee Cyber Summit will include a range of activities for the entire family – including a children’s technology and robotics lab, a CyberSecure My Business workshop, food vendors, live music, regional technology businesses and vendors, and more. The day will also kick off with a fireside chat featuring cybersecurity experts and local business and technology leaders.
“Residents of Middle Tennessee won’t want to miss this engaging and interactive event. Anyone who attends – whether small business owners, non-profits, technologists or parents – will walk away with a better understanding of how to protect their online data and keep their network safe. I’m impressed by how swiftly the entire Tennessee community has rallied together to put this event on to benefit as many people as possible,” said Daniel Eliot, NCSA’s Director of Small Business Education.
A feature of the day will be the National Cyber Security Alliance’s CyberSecure My Business workshop. During the workshop, NCSA will lead the attendees through the following steps:
* Understanding the data assets they have that cyber criminals might want to steal
* Learning how to protect those assets without having to spend a lot of money or time
* Detecting when something has gone wrong
* Knowing how to react quickly and appropriately to make the impact as small as possible and understanding the need to create a plan of action that can be implemented when a breach occurs
* Learning what resources are needed to recover after a breach The workshop content is developed to be easily understood by people who do not have technical backgrounds.
Attendees leave the workshop with a better understanding of the threats they face and tools to better secure their personal and company data.
